Profile of the BayWa Group
BayWa is a group with worldwide operations in the core competencies of trading, logistics and supplementary services in its core segments of Agriculture, Energy and Building Materials. The head office of the parent company, which was founded in 1923, is located in Munich, Germany. The international activities focus on Europe as well as on the US and New Zealand.
The Agriculture Segment trades in agricultural equipment and resources and collects, stores and sells plant products from the field through to the food industry. Today, the Agriculture business unit’s activities reach beyond its core regions in Germany and Austria, and the company is one of the largest agricultural traders worldwide. The Agricultural Equipment Business Unit sells machinery and equipment, buildings and facilities.
The Energy Segment is the Group's second-largest segment. BayWa has concentrated its entire activities in the field of renewable energies in BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH, a company wholly owned by the Group, with locations in many European countries, Japan and North America. BayWa r.e. provides you with advice and support regarding innovative, tailor-made solutions based around solar energy, wind power, bioenergy and geothermal energy. In this way BayWa r.e. helps to make the generation of energy profitable for you – over the long term. Since its formation in 2009, BayWa r.e. renewable energy has developed into one of the most well-respected project developers and system suppliers of PV plants throughout Germany, the rest of Europe and the USA. The company also offers additional forms of support to our customers by providing consultation and system management services.
The Building Materials Segment comprises basically trading in building materials. Here the BayWa Group ranks among the leading suppliers in Germany and Austria.

On the path to expansion worldwide
BayWa has been continually expanding its international activities for years. In agricultural trading, the Group has a global sourcing and trade network with its company Cefetra B.V..
In the fruit business, BayWa’s subsidiary Turners & Growers has helped it not only tap into the New Zealand market, but also gain access to the North American continent, Australia and Asia through its network of trade partnerships.
The international focus also plays an important role in the renewable energies market. Since 2009 BayWa r.e. has continued to expand its international activities. As a project developer and trader of plants for wind energy, solar energy, bioenergy and geothermal energy BayWa r.e. operates in many European countries, Japan and in North America.
Working in partnership with its customers, BayWa r.e. renewable energy has already brought 1,200 megawatts online. Today, BayWa r.e. is one of Europe's leading suppliers in this sector. Its ambition is to promote an increase in the utilization of renewables at a global level.
