A 29 MW project built to deliver reliable energy and regional impact.

Project Overview

Camden Solar, located in Camden County, North Carolina, reached Commercial Operation in November 2021. With a capacity of 29 MW, Camden Solar is part of BayWa r.e.'s IPP. 

This project provides clean energy to The Hershey Company, the biggest chocolate manufacturer in the United States, through a 15-year PPA.

Towards a Sweeter Future

Operational since Q4 of 2021, Camden Solar has been generating 45GWh of energy per year, while helping reduce the annual CO2 emissions by 32,000 metric tons. This would be equivalent to 80 million miles driven in the average passenger car, or charging 3.9 billion phones*. 

Camden Solar is uniquely positioned to supply Hershey’s manufacturing facility in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. The project is located close to the facility and produces nearly the total amount of energy needed to cover the facility’s load.  

*Calculated using the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator. This calculator uses marginal emissions rates.
