Schumann Wind Farm

Locally rooted wind power designed for land use and grid reliability.

Project Overview

Located in Umatilla County, Oregon, the Schumann Wind Project consists of five GE wind turbines that feed renewable energy into the PacifiCorp Grid. The wind farm reached commercial operation in November 2022 and is part of BayWa r.e.'s IPP portfolio, contributing 8 MW of clean energy to the region.

Note: The facility delivers renewable electricity into the grid. Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) associated with this generation are sold separately.

Grid Connection and Infrastructure

Schumann is strategically interconnected with the Chopin Wind Project, combining overhead and underground transmission lines to reduce disruptions to local agriculture. By placing portions of the transmission line underground, the project enables traditional farming practices to continue without interruption.

Environmental and Community Commitment

Our team works closely with local authorities to ensure road improvements and environmental protections meet high standards, including habitat preservation and noise management. Schumann is overseen by a dedicated asset management team that partners with local service providers to ensure reliable, responsive support, advancing renewable energy within the community.
