Project Overview
Bluebird Solar is a commitment to Kentucky’s future. Developed by BayWa r.e., this 137 MW project in south Harrison County near Cynthiana spans 635 acres and connects to the existing electrical grid, generating reliable, homegrown energy. The project aligns with the economic and environmental goals of Kentucky and Harrison County, supporting job creation, responsible land use, and energy independence for years to come.

Unlocking the Power of Communities
At BayWa r.e., we value long-term partnerships and work closely with local communities and organizations to fund workforce development trainings and scholarship programs, support natural disaster relief efforts, and integrate sustainability and biodiversity measures into our project plans. We believe in transparency, good communication, and active community involvement in shaping, building, and maintaining projects.
BayWa r.e. Solar Projects has an ongoing partnership with The Center for Energy Education (C4EE) to fund renewable energy education and training programs, which are made available to local residents free of charge. Participants are equipped with the skillsets to start new careers in utility-scale solar construction, operations, and maintenance, and are encouraged to apply for relevant positions with BayWa r.e upon course completion.
We are also proud continuing sponsors and participants of Harvesting the Holidays, a family-friendly annual event focused on bringing the community together and supporting local businesses.
Landowner Partnerships - How can your land work for you?
By partnering with us on solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, landowners gain a reliable, long-term income stream through leasing. While most of our partners prefer long-term leases, we also offer the option to purchase land when landowners prefer that choice. We aim to provide the flexibility that best suits our valued partners.
With over 100 years of agricultural experience woven into our DNA, we understand the needs of farmers and landowners. Our approach ensures that landowners benefit directly from the development while preserving the integrity and legacy of their land for generations to come.

We have taken a proactive approach to protecting the environment and community around Bluebird Solar and aim to leave a positive impact on the land and community.
Minimizing Waterway Impact
Open-bottom culverts were implemented to protect and avoid disturbance to Waters of the U.S.
Promoting Biodiversity
A dedicated two-acre pollinator habitat will be established within the site, supporting local ecosystems.
Recycling Plan
Solar panels will be recycled through municipal programs wherever available, ensuring minimal environmental impact at the end of their lifecycle.
