BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC began operation of its own greenfield project.
In follow up of its very successful year, BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC began operation of its own greenfield project. The Chopin Wind Project deploys six GE 1.7 wind turbines on 80m hub height with a rotor diameter of 103 meters in Umatilla County, Oregon. The facility is selling its energy under a long term contract to PacifiCorp and retains the renewable energy certificates. Construction began in summer with commercial operation achieved on October 1, 2016.
“This project will provide long term reliable energy and environmental benefits to the local community,” said Florian Zerhusen, CEO of BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC.
The project site encompasses approximately 1,150 acres. The clean energy produced will suffice to supply approximately 7,500 homes in the surrounding areas and is the equivalent of saving 32,000 pounds of CO2 emissions.
