BayWa r.e. Supports Kentucky Flood Relief with $10,000 Donation

to overview

In response to record rainfall and catastrophic flooding across Eastern Kentucky, BayWa r.e., a leading clean energy company, is donating $10,000 to the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund to deliver critical relief to families and communities hit hardest by this crisis.

“The devastating effects of this historic natural disaster are continuing to be felt, particularly by the most vulnerable residents of Eastern Kentucky. As a solar energy developer in the state, we continue to build lasting connections with local stakeholders and we want to support Governor Beshear’s commitment to deliver much-needed resources to our neighbors in need,” said Michael Stanton, senior vice president of development at BayWa r.e. Solar Projects LLC. “The Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund is already making a real impact in the community by helping families return to their homes safely.”

Several counties in Kentucky rank as some of the most at-risk for severe rainfall-induced flooding in the country. Almost 249,000 properties in the commonwealth have greater than a 26% chance of being severely affected by flooding over the next 30 years, according to the First Street Foundation, a nonprofit flood research group that tracks property-level flood risks. “At BayWa r.e., our priority today is to support recovery efforts when Kentuckians need it most,” added Stanton.

Governor Beshear has established the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund to assist those impacted by the floods and the severe weather system that hit the area on July 26. All donations are tax-deductible. For those who want to help with the relief effort, visit Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund to donate today.
